Materials

Euro Steel buys and sells hot-work and cold-work tool steels, both as semi-finished products and as production scrap, for steelworks, foundries and machine shops in the petrochemical, aerospace and Oil & Gas sectors, in Italy and abroad. We specialise in high nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys such as vacuum superalloys, but we handle materials and alloys of many different compositions.

Tool steels: buying and selling D2, H11, H13 and H21

Tool steels are alloy steels designed for hardness, wear resistance and toughness. Cold-work steels (D series) are used for blanking dies and cutting tools. Hot-work steels (H series) withstand thermal shock and fatigue, and are used for die-casting, forging and extrusion dies.

Which tool steels Euro Steel buys and sells

The table above shows the indicative composition of the grades we buy and sell, including:

  • cold work D2, D3 and D6
  • hot work H10A, H11, H12, H13, H19, H21 and H21A

Tool steel semi-finished products and scrap

We supply tool steel as prime and secondary-grade semi-finished products: bars and special forgings, plates and flat products and pipes. We also buy production scrap and turnings to feed back into the supply chain. Every batch is checked with XRF and spectrometric analysis in our laboratory in Roncadelle (Brescia, Italy), and certificates are available on request.

Yes. Euro Steel buys tool steel production scrap from machine shops and industry, then sorts and analyses it and feeds it back into the metal supply chain as secondary raw material.

H13 is a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium hot-work steel, widely used for aluminium die-casting dies, extrusion dies and forging tools.
